You Won!  Free Ice Cream!!

CITY-WIDE ICE CREAM SOCIAL PROMOTES SAVING ENERGY

On Saturday, June 30th, 2012 from 1-3 pm, the City of Montpelier’s Energy Committee will host, on the State House Lawn, a FREE Ice Cream Social … for the entire city!

• Ben & Jerry’s will have a truck on hand to give out free ice cream.
• A local company, Infinite Laser Tag, will offer free laser tag for young people who want to play.
• There will be live music by the Heck Hounds, and other local musicians.
• The event will include prizes and exhibits on all the ways people can save energy and reduce their contribution to climate change.

The free ice cream is awarded as the first prize won in the opening round of an on line contest called Vermontivate – where people from towns all over the state competed to see who could do the most towards long term energy savings in a month’s time.  Montpelier triumphed in the hard fought contest, so the Ben & Jerry’s truck will be coming here. According to Energy Committee chair, Dan Jones, “We wanted to have a fun way to introduce all the resources available to help Montpelier’s residents to start saving serious money on their fuel bills.  Winning the Vermontivate contest gave us the great opportunity to accomplish our mission and have a city wide party at the same time.”
