Upper Valley Co-op Calendar

Note: This calendar is divided into three sections, Co-op events, Sew-op events, and Community events.

Co-op events:

6      (Thursday)       Quiltbuilding w/Sally

10am to 3pm      Interested in quilting? Come watch Sally lay out and piece together a king-sized quilt upstairs in the gathering room. FREE!!

7      (Friday)    First Friday

4 to 6pm      5% discount to all from 4pm to 6pm

Judi will have an assortment of treats and recipes for you, Liberty Chocolate, a new vendor, will pass out free samples and the Co-op will have an Antioch intern exchanging info about GMO labeling!

12      (Wednesday)      Understanding Beauty Products w/ Robert Rockwood

6 to 7:30pm      Find out about the harmful side effects of some of the standard ingredients that are used in body       care products for both men and women. This class will be upstairs in the Gathering Room.

14      (Friday)      SuperWorker Appreciation Day

4 to 6pm      We invite everyone who has logged even one Superworker shift to come by the Co-op for food to nibble on and a chance to get to know some fellow volunteers! Please RSVP if possible.

25      (Tuesday)   UVFC Board Meeting

6 to 8pm      Open to the public. Upstairs in the gathering room.

The Sew-op:

1      (Saturday)  Kids’ Quilting

10 to 12pm      This is the second half of a two-part quilting class for kids.

3       (Monday)    Open Hours

5:30 to 7:30pm      FREE. We always have an experienced person available to help you with any project you may bring.

5       (Wednesday) Open Hours

8      (Saturday) Tea Wallets

10am to noon      This tea bag holder class is a fat quarter project. You will rotary cut the fabric following written instructions and a pattern. The bag is sewn with one quarter (1/4) inch seams. This class is designed so that you can finish the tea wallet in 2 hours.

10       (Monday)      Embroidery

5:30 to 7:30pm      Come learn some basic embroidery stitches and ideas for their use, and take home an instructional handout. Bring something you would like to embroider and we’ll brainstorm the possibilities.

12       (Wednesday) Open Hours

17      (Monday)    Basic Sewing

5:30 to 7:30pm      This two-hour introductory class will teach the basics of sewing machines and how to operate them; the basics of fabric; and how to pin and sew seams. You will make a simple project to take home.

19       (Wednesday) Open Hours

1 to 3pm

20      (Thursday)       Rugbraiding

5:30 to 7:30pm      This Sew-op group is meant for rugbraiders who want to get together with other braiders in the Upper Valley. This is not for beginners. Knowledge of rug-braiding is expected.

Donations gratefully accepted to cover meeting space costs.

21       (Friday)    Kids’ Class: Making Dolls’ Clothes

10am to noon      In this class children will learn to run the sewing machine and will make a three piece doll outfit for the 18 inch or American Girl doll. They will make a poncho, a ski cap and a pair of pants. Class size is limited to 4 students per session, ages 8 to 10.

22      (Saturday) Kids’ Class: Making Dolls’ Clothes

10am to noon       Alternative day to catch the above class.

Sew-op Class Registration: Unless otherwise indicated, $20 fee for members, $25 non-members and $30 for a parent/child or sibling team (scholarships available). Class size is limited to six students per session, ages 14 and up unless otherwise specified.

Community Events

Below is a listing of community events in the Upper Valley, several held in the Co-op gathering room. The Co-op aims to spread the word about these events to encourage education and keep our community informed. When possible we provide meeting space for local organizations at a reasonable rate.
