Student Reflections: Dartmouth’s Energy Immersion Trip to New Hampshire, Vermont & Quebec

Our lives are intimately integrated with energy systems, many of which are invisible to us. In an effort to make these invisible systems visible, the Sustainability Office and Irving Institute have launched an Energy Immersions Program that takes students to different parts of the country to meet with stakeholders and learn about energy from a range of perspectives- technical, financial, environmental, social, historical and more! In June, undergraduate students traveled through New Hampshire, Vermont, and Quebec to better understand the energy landscape that they are connected to through Dartmouth. They learned about the electricity systems in the region, opportunities for integrating renewable energy, resiliency, biomass as a potential source of thermal energy, and energy accessibility and security. Hear these students share their perspectives and experiences from this trip!
