Making it Real: A Forum on Energy and Climate – Vermont Event

While the governors of northeastern states meet with the premiers of the eastern Canadian provinces in a conference sponsored by big energy corporations in Stowe, community activists and experts will discuss the perils fracked gas pipelines, mega-dams and their associated long-distance transmission lines, nuclear power, biofuels, tar sands and other false climate solutions, and propose just and sustainable energy alternatives.

It’ll be a panel of @ 4 speakers; invitees include Rachel Smolker, an indigenous speaker fighting Canadian dams (via Skype), Geoff Gardner on pipelines and corporate influence and  folks talking on the Maine power line 5-10 min. comments followed by lots of q&a is the proposed format.
Monday we will have a press conference.
8/12-8/14 the governor’s and premieres will be meeting at Stowe Mountain resort.
