Legionella in a COVID-19 World – a Free Webinar

About the Program: Join us on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. EST for a one-hour discussion of Legionnella, the bacteria that can grow in building HVAC and water systems and causes Legionnaires Disease, a severe, and sometimes fatal, form of pneumonia. Understanding Legionnella is especially critical as schools and other buildings re-open after extended shut-downs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will provide building owners, facility managers, inspectors, industrial hygienists, and others with a “refresher” on the basics of preventing, recognizing, testing, and control of Legionella. Topics include: Overview of the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) Guidlines for Recognition, Evaluation and Control How to identify areas or devices in buildings where Legionella might grow or spread to people. A review of water management plans, regulatory information, case studies and outbreak management Dealing with HVAC systems and concerns in the new COVID-19 world. The Presenter: Dennis N. Francoeur, CIH, CSP, CMI Dennis is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional and Council Certified Microbial Investigator with RPF Environmental of Portland, Maine. Dennis has been providing assistance to facility and safety managers across New England since 1986 in the areas of indoor air quality, industrial hygiene air testing, chemical exposures, industry and construction related safety and training. Recent projects include hazardous materials building surveys for asbestos and PCB’s and safe management of building renovation projects for industry, health care and NH State office buildings. He received a BS from Northeastern University in Toxicology and interned with the OSHA Concord area office. In addition to assisting his clients, Dennis is a Past President of the NSC Northern New England chapter and on the boards of the DownEast chapter of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and Granite State Chapter of the Indoor Air Quality Association, serving on the NH Mold Task Force on Mold which has adopted a Standard of Care for the New Hampshire Mold Industry with the NH American Lung Association.
