Final details for Norwich to Hanover HUMAN CHAIN

We will begin to assemble around 7:15 a.m. on Friday Sept 20th.  First arrivals please meet in the middle of Ledyard Bridge. We’ll fan outward from there.

(For those who don’t know, the Ledyard Bridge crosses the Connecticut River between Norwich, Vermont, and Hannover, New Hampshire.)

In the words of Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish girl who has ignited the youth movement for this event,  “Our House is on Fire – we need to put it out.”   To build on this theme, consider bringing a bucket and wearing red.   Can you make a sign?  Great! If not, just come and join us!

Getting there:  Please try to walk, bike,  or take Advanced Transit  to avoid traffic jams.   The Advance Transit Brown Route bus will stop Kendal-at-Hanover at 6:42 am and then make a stop at RIVERCREST and CRREL.   NH people, please consider taking this bus and getting off at West Street and W. Wheelock–just above the bridge.

If you are driving, please carpool.  In Hanover, there is limited parking downtown on West Wheelock but at that time of the morning you should find space in the parking  lots near School Street and Maple.

In Vermont, you may park in the parking lot (not driveway) of the Montshire Museum.

Watch for our monitors who will guide you to the nearest part of the chain.   As you walk on West Wheelock, Main Street and Lebanon Street, please join the CHAIN at its furthest point.    We’d LOVE to go all the way from the Norwich Green/MCS to Hanover High School.

N.B.  The main event will last from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.   This time slot was chosen so that people can participate and continue on to their classes/jobs.

If you can bring an appropriate sign that would be wonderful, and hopefully many of you will take photos and videos to post online.

But mostly just please come –bring your support, time, and energy.  THANK YOU!
