Looking For a Smarter, Easier Way to Heat and Cool Your Home? Upcoming Events To Share How Local Homes Are Switching To Heat Pumps

SYRACUSE, NY – Do you pay too much to heat your home? Is your home drafty? Do you want to end your dependency on fossil fuels or chopping wood? HeatSmart CNY hosts virtual events to explain how to improve the energy efficiency of your home, from better insulation to switching to cleaner, greener heating and cooling with heat pumps.

Heat pumps are an exciting renewable technology which can extract heat from the ground or the air and can both heat and cool buildings. Heat pumps and improved insulation are key in reducing the environmental impact of homes and buildings, which make up approximately one third of New York’s emissions. Heat pumps are also often cheaper, healthier, easier, and safer to operate than conventional heating systems.

HeatSmart CNY is a grassroots community initiative to support residents, businesses, and community groups to electrify and improve energy efficiency as we heat and cool our homes and buildings. HeatSmart CNY connects participants with local heating and cooling experts who offer energy efficient retrofits and the latest technologies, such as geothermal systems, cold climate air source heat pumps, and hot water heat pumps, and building improvements such as air sealing and insulation. The campaign is a partnership between the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board, Alliance for a Green Economy, and community leader volunteers, supported in part by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

Join HeatSmart CNY for the following virtual events to learn about what heat pumps are, how they work, and what incentives are available for you to install one. Bring your questions! All events are free and open to the public.
