NH LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: HB549

On January 6, 2022 the NH House of Representatives passed House Bill 549, a first-step in re-establishing funding for popular energy efficiency and weatherization programs in New Hampshire. These programs commonly referred to as NH SAVES, had been significantly undermined by a recent Order of the NH Public Utilities Commission.

Thanks you Epping State Representative Michael Vose for sponsoring the bill. Representative Vose, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Technology and Energy, spoke in favor of a Committee amendment relative to funding. The amended bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, UNANIMOUSLY; 343-0. Thank you again Chairman Vose!

This legislative road is long, and often uphill. Next steps involve hearings in the State Senate and, hopefully, reconciliation of potentially differing versions of the legislation.
