Neighbors in West Fairlee, Vershire, Corinth and Bradford, VT are collaborating with WindowDressers Inc., a Maine-based nonprofit, (www.windowdressers.org) to make custom built interior storm inserts for households in our four towns. The inserts are easy to install, remove and reuse. They let light in, keep drafts out, and reduce heating costs.
You can see sample inserts at various spots over the summer, so keep an eye out for a display table at your local trash and recycling site, Hannaford supermarket, and elsewhere!
Those ordering window inserts will join other volunteers to build the inserts at a “Community Build,” a barn-raising-style community event in early November at the Vershire Town Center.
Low-income households are eligible to receive inserts at low, or no, cost. All customers will be asked to volunteer. There are many different ways to pitch in.
Renters can use the inserts as well!
