Learn How You Can Fight Climate Change and Lower Your Energy Use at Virtual HeatSmart CNY Events

SYRACUSE, NY – Do you pay too much to heat your home? Is your home drafty? Do you want to end your dependency on fossil fuels or chopping wood? HeatSmart CNY will be holding a segries of virtual events to explain how you can switch to cleaner, greener heating and cooling with heat pumps.

Heat pumps are an exciting renewable technology which can extract heat from the ground or the air, and can both heat and cool buildings. Heat pumps and energy efficiency are a key way to reduce the environmental impact of homes and buildings, which make up a third of New York’s emissions.Heat pumps are also often cheaper, healthier, easier, and safer to operate than conventional heating systems.

HeatSmart CNY is a community program through the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board and Alliance for A Green Economy, dedicated to making it easier and more affordable to electrify and improve the energy efficiency of our homes and buildings. They are one of the many Clean Heating and Cooling Community projects funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority across the state.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has awarded over $9 million to support nearly 20 HeatSmart Community Campaigns throughout the state which conduct community outreach and education efforts to inform residents about the benefits of heat pumps, home energy efficiency improvements and other clean energy technologies.

Join HeatSmart CNY for the following virtual events to learn about what heat pumps are, how they work, and what incentives are available for you to install one. You can take a virtual tour of a home heated and cooled by heat pumps, have your questions answered by expert installers for free, and more. All events are free and open to the public.
