Today marks the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day. And in these trying times, there’s a special way we’re commemorating it. For the next three days, youth activists and community leaders are coming together online, via livestream, to call for a bold and equitable response to both the coronavirus and climate crises in line with science and justice.
Over the last several weeks, we have seen the COVID-19 pandemic making the stark inequalities in our society all the more clear. This time in history is showing us the urgent need to rebuild a society that is more equitable and more sustainable than what we had before.
Plus – along with the national livestream, there are dozens of local livestreams led by community leaders and organizations — including many Sierra Club chapters and organizers! See if there’s a local livestream happening in your area — and plan to join those important discussions!
Throughout these three days there will be bold calls to action, where you can join with thousands of others to demand our leaders to do more to protect our health, workers, communities, and planet.
Don’t miss it! It’s all at sc.org/EarthDayLive
