Swanton Wind LLC to Hold Public Informational Meeting

Area Residents have Opportunity to Talk Directly with Wind Project Experts

Swanton, VT – Swanton Wind LLC, a wind energy development company owned by the Belisle family of Swanton, today announced its plans to hold a public informational meeting to share details of the electric generation wind farm on Rocky Ridge in Swanton. The meeting will take place on September 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM. at the Swanton Village Municipal Complex, 120 1st Street, Swanton. VT. Specialists who have been conducting the studies necessary to shape the project design and ensure compliance with Vermont’s rigorous and comprehensive permitting standards will present the latest information and answer questions.

The Swanton Wind team examining natural resources, wildlife, acoustics, civil engineering, stormwater and aesthetics will be available at the meeting. Travis Belisle, a principal of Swanton Wind, LLC and himself a direct neighbor of the proposed project stated “I am encouraged by the initial results of the work the team has conducted to make sure this project is developed in an environmentally sound manner. This project will produce stably-priced, zero-emission power for Vermonters while existing in harmony with the working landscape of our community where I have lived my whole life. I am excited to share the latest results of the extensive studies undertaken to be sure this project is done right.” A complete list of the firms working on the project is available on the project website at http://swantonwindvt.com/about/.

The September Public Informational Meeting follows earlier outreach by Swanton Wind, including presentations to the Swanton Selectboard and officials of other surrounding towns, the adjoining landowners, the Fairfield Pond Association, and at Franklin County Field Days. It comes in advance of the anticipated filing of a Vermont Certificate of Public Good permitting application with the Public Service Board, which is planned for October 2015 at the earliest. The state permitting process also provides numerous opportunities for public and municipal involvement and will determine whether and under what conditions the project’s construction and operation will be authorized.

Swanton Wind, LLC’s Public Informational meeting is an entirely separate effort from the “Swanton Wind Fair” being held this weekend. The “Wind Fair” organizers have no affiliation with the Swanton Wind project and did not invite input from Swanton Wind, LLC on the event’s content.
