Green Mountain Club Seeks Executive Director

January 13, 2014 – The Green Mountain Club, maintainer and protector of the Long Trail system in Vermont, seeks a dynamic, energetic and highly motivated individual to serve as its Executive Director. Responsibilities include organizational leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of the Club’s activities including: trail management, finance and business operations, personnel management, planning, fund raising, liaison with State and Federal agencies and other trail partners, land acquisition, field operations, publications, education and public relations.This position also provides support to the 14 regional GMC Sections in their effort to implement Club and Section goals.

Qualifications: A minimum of five years management experience, preferably in a non-profit setting. Must have successful fund raising experience, excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style. Must be able to recruit, motivate and lead volunteers and have the ability to manage 10 full time staff and 30 seasonal staff. Individuals who are passionate about the Long Trail and the Green Mountains, are avid hikers, and have considerable knowledge and experience related to trail and non-profit management are strongly encouraged to apply.
