Electric vehicle plug-in day coming to Church Street Marketplace Saturday

Church Street in Burlington will be turned into a showcase for the latest in electric vehicle technology this coming Saturday. Drive Electric Vermont, a partnership to promote electric vehicle ownership in the state, is sponsoring Plug-In Day to increase public awareness of electric vehicles as an affordable, safe, and reliable transportation option for many Vermonters.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 28, from 11am – 2pm, on Church Street. It is free and open to the public.

Situated in front of City Hall and stretching up the block, Plug-In Day will feature electric vehicles on display from a number of local dealers, including Burlington Mitsubishi, Freedom Nissan, Heritage Automotive, and Shearer Chevrolet. There will also be a number of organizations on site showcasing electric vehicle charging equipment and much more. Also on display will be a pair of cutting-edge Tesla electric vehicles (both a Roadster and a Model S).

The event will kick off with a brief press conference at which a number of state and local leaders will be announcing two new financing initiatives to support the spread of electric vehicles in Vermont. The press conference will take place at 11:00am in front of City Hall.
