NEK Pipeline Walk July 19th & 20th

Have you heard the news?  The big oil companies have a plan to move tar sands oil through our beautiful Northeast Kingdom via the Portland-Montreal Pipeline built back in the 1950’s.

So, once again this year, we are going to walk the route of the pipeline to honor the land, to celebrate our communities and to raise awareness about the tar sands threat to the NEK.

Details:  We will start the Walk at the North Troy Common on Friday, July 19th at 9 AM. We’ll camp along the way that night at Dexter Randall’s house on Kittredge Road in Newport. We will have a fresh pizzas from the NOFA portable oven and local entertainment. On Saturday morning, July 20th, we will walk across the hill and arrive in Irasburg for the annual Church Fair.

ALL are welcome to “walk the line” with us! Join us for the departure, the arrival, part of the walk, or walk the whole way and camp out with us. Or just stop by for pizza at Dexter’s house on Friday evening. And bring your family, friends and neighbors!

If you can’t attend the walk, please forward this e-mail to your friends, families, neighbors or anybody else that you know who wants to do something about the dangers of tar sands on our environment. If you have any questions or would like more information about the threat of tar sands to the NEK please feel free to contact me at the above e-mail address.
