The Sustainability Project’s 8th Annual Seed Celebration and Sustainable Community Fair takes place on February 16th, 2013, from 9 am – 4pm at the Keene State College Putnam Science Center. Sponsors of the event include Keene State College Campus Ecology Club, the W.S.Badger Company, Green Energy Options, Northeast Farm Access LLC, The Mountain, Gem Graphics, and Good Fortune.

This family-focused community event offers an opportunity for you to get a jump on the 2013 growing season, stock up on seeds, and learn about local food, environmental, and sustainable community initiatives. The Solar Sisters will kick off the event with songs of farm and garden. There will be workshops, presentations, demonstrations and children’s activities throughout the day. Local non-profits will be on hand, eager to share their stories and to invite you to be part of their success. Vendor tables will enable you to ‘buy local.’ The Master Gardeners will be on hand to help you plan your garden and answer your gardening questions. Once you’ve designed your garden, you can then purchase or order your FEDCO seeds on the spot. If you are a seed saver with a surplus, there is an opportunity to swap and share. Enjoy soups, Orchard Hill Bread and beverages at our café and help us wrap up the day with a concert by The VanBurens, a Boston-based progressive funk, rock, dance band. Over the years, farmers, gardeners and activists working for sustainable communities have come to know this event as a great opportunity for networking.

Advertise in our Event Program

We anticipate more than 400 people will attend the event; participating in workshops, planning their gardens, and visiting educational and vender tables. We will be handing out programs for the event and have reserved space for businesses to show their support of The Sustainability Project.  Business card sized ads are available for $36. Copy ready ads or business cards should be e-mailed to Lenoir McDougal by February 8th.

Reserve a Table
Local businesses and organizations are invited to set up a table to share information and to sell local products. This year, the suggested donation for table reservations is $50.   We say suggested donation, because we don’t want to discourage anyone’s participation for lack of finances. You make up an important part of the amazing network we want to share with the wider community.

Volunteers make The Sustainability Project possible. Please consider experiencing the Seed Celebration and Sustainable Community Fair by making it happen! Volunteer positions include setting up, serving or taking money at the cafe, greeting people at the door, staffing the welcoming table, selling raffle tickets, staffing the seed store, helping at the garden planning table and clean up. Shifts during the event are 2 hours long. To sign up as a volunteer, please email volunteer coordinator Velvet Young or call 603-209-7272.
