RUTLAND, Vt. (Nov. 8, 2011) — Rutland’s third annual Thanksgiving Localvore Challenge is back.
Sustainable Rutland and the Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL) are challenging the community to eat more local food and, in the process, support local farms and small businesses. This year, the first 75 participants to sign up will get Localvore Toolkits, which include useful tips, recipes and free coupons to sponsoring businesses.
Participants who sign up can choose to take either a “small bite” or a “big bite.” A small bite is a commitment to cook a localvore dish for Thanksgiving (either to add to the meal or to bring to someone else’s). A big bite is a commitment to cook an entirely localvore Thanksgiving meal. And don’t worry it’s easier than you realize.
Anyone interested in taking the Localvore Challenge can sign up at RAFFL’s Everyday Chef blog at www.everydaychef.org, where they will also find all the official rules as well as helpful localvore tips and recipes.
