July 15, 2011 | Montpelier Vt.– Renewable Energy Vermont (REV), the only business trade association focused specifically on the advancement of renewable energy sources deployment, announced today the selection of Gabrielle Stebbins as the organization’s new executive director at the annual membership meeting hosted by cow power supporter, Long Trail Brewery. On the anniversary of REV’s 10th year, Stebbins steps in as the new director to lead the renewable business trade association in what is a very active time for the renewable energy economy in Vermont. The roughly 300 member organization represents businesses, individuals, colleges, utilities and others committed to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and expanding the availability of renewable sources of energy in Vermont.
Since 2008, Stebbins has served as Program Manager at Vermont Energy Investment Corporation in Burlington. In this role, she managed a variety of innovative programs including the Vermont Renewable Incentive Program, Efficiency Vermont’s Community Energy Project and Biomass Incentive development, and Green Mountain Power’s School Photovoltaic Challenge.
“We are very pleased to have Gabrielle Stebbins as our new Executive Director,” said Martha Staskus, Board Chair of Renewable Energy Vermont. “She brings great enthusiasm and a breadth of knowledge that will enable her to effectively represent our members and continue the advancement of renewable installations and job growth. Gabrielle has an excellent technical and management background to prepare her for working on Vermont’s renewable and energy efficiency issues. Her experience in diverse public education settings will also be a benefit to renewable energy consumers. We look forward to a long and productive association with her.”
Prior to working for VEIC, Stebbins worked at Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game managing projects that encouraged public participation in protecting land and water resources, requiring extensive stakeholder outreach and consensus building. Stebbins has a Masters in Development Studies: Sustainable Policy from Nelson Mandela University, Republic of South Africa and undergraduate degrees in Anthropology and Violin from Rice University.
