Integrative and Regenerative Design: Redefining the Practice of Sustainability
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 8:30 am
Making buildings, cars, products, and processes more efficient is simply the starting point for achieving sustainability. In his keynote address, Bill Reed will discuss the need to understand how buildings, habitat, and people contribute to the health of our whole system over time. He will demonstrate how integration and regeneration can align human activity with the nature of Place – the process asks how we can be participants with the Place, not limiting ourselves by assuming we can only do something to the Place.Practical concepts for integrating technical and living systems designs will be discussed. He will also share how regenerative design was used at the Brattleboro Food Coop to develop a local and long-term, sustainable approach to nutrition and the local economy. |
