Senator Sanders Introduces Geothermal Sales Tax Exemption Bill– NYS Senator James Sanders Jr. has introduced a bill to provide a tax exemption for the sale and installation of residential and commercial geothermal heat pump systems equipment. The bill, S642, would eliminate the NYS portion of the sales tax and give municipalities the option of eliminating their portion. This would parallel the exemption currently in place for solar equipment. The bill is currently in the Senate Budget and Revenue Committee. Sanders (D-10th) represents much of Southern Queens and is Chair of the Senate Banking Committee.
