Join the Climate Strike
Now Rescheduled for This Friday – October 23 – 1PM
University Green, Burlington
A coalition of activist organizations, led by Club Organize UVM and UVM Union of Students, have called for a climate strike on October 23rd, beginning at 1pm on the University Green in Burlington. The action will begin with a rally, followed by a march to City Hall for a speak out, and will finish at Battery Park with teach-ins led by different experts and organizations and meals prepared by the People’s Kitchen.
The rally and teach-ins will highlight the intersectional nature of the climate crisis by drawing the connections between it and racism, capitalism and labor rights, Indigenous rights, and militarism, especially the basing of nuclear capable F-35s at Burlington airport.
All are invited to strike from classes and workplaces to join the rally, march, speak out, and teach-ins with a shared meal.
The Schedule of the events is as follows:
1:00 PM – Rally at the University Green (next to Main Street, between University Place and
South Prospect Street)
1:45 PM – March to City Hall
2:15 PM – Speak out at City Hall
3:30 PM – March to Battery Park
4:00 PM-6:00 PM – Teach-ins at Battery Park and food prepared by the People’s Kitchen
