Celebrate Solar Tours

June 20!

You may remember that last year, VPIRG worked to update the state’s net metering law, which allows Vermonters to go renewable and get credit on their electric bills for the power they produce. Well I’m happy to report that net metering has been a huge success.

You’ve probably seen solar panels on your neighbor’s roof or passed by a solar farm driving to work. I love seeing this. It’s a reminder that we’re committed to reducing our dependence on dirty, dangerous, polluting fossil fuels and moving toward a sustainable future.

Now you can see some of those solar farms up close. Solar projects throughout Vermont will be open for public tours on June 20th as part of the inaugural Celebrate Solar Tours Day.

If you’ve ever wondered how solar works — from the technology, to how and why families or businesses in your area went solar — now’s your chance to hear it from the horse’s mouth. Solar customers, host farmers, and owners alike will be on-hand to speak with the public with many of the sites offering fun events too.

For a full list of solar projects open to the public on June 20th, visit the Renewable Energy Vermont website.

I hope to see you at one of the tours!
