Seven New Solar Projects in Vermont

Real Goods Solar (RGS) and Green Lantern Capital have announced they will build a set of solar farms together in Vermont. The seven projects will have a capacity of 4.5 megawatts (MW). Work on the various projects should begin in the summer of 2014 and be completed by the following November.

The combined output of the solar farms should be approximately 5300 megawatt hours per year. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is equivalent to taking more than 19,000 cars off the road or planting 2.3 million trees, as it will eliminate over 4000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Vermont has a goal of having 20% of its power from renewable sources by 2017. RGS has helped with this already by installing over 10 MW of solar capacity in the state already. Nationally, the company has installed more than 16,000 solar systems totalling over 120 MW of capacity.

Green Lantern is a development consultant and financing company specializing in distributed power projects. They are based in Waterbury, Vermont.
